Speaking of David Hockney....

I found these images after a conversation with an artist friend today about David Hockney - she likes his older portraits and I am crazy about his newer landscapes. They give new meaning to "color field" painting. I can't help but be reminded of Van Gogh in these pieces... an amped up Van Gogh. Who thought that possible?

Vincent's bedroom gets restored

As I may have mentioned before in this blog, I'm crazy about Van Gogh's painting of his bedroom in Arles. I'm even in the process of curating a show based on this painting (more on that as the plan progresses). I just heard that the painting is getting a facelift - and we can follow it at this this blog of the Van Gogh Museum. A week ago, the painting was deframed...

Ohhhhh, what I would give to push that into my bedroom in Asheville!
